Launch checklist & safe updates

Test the full shopping journey before publishing, and update the theme later without losing your work.

What you will have

A store you have tested end to end, and a repeatable way to update it safely.

  1. Replace all demo content

    Go through every section on the homepage and replace placeholder text, images and links. Sections you are not using should be hidden or removed.

  2. Check every link

    Click each header menu item, mega menu panel link, footer link and section button in the preview. Empty links are the most common launch mistake.

  3. Walk the shopping journey on desktop

    Homepage → collection → filter and sort → product → choose a variant → add to cart → change quantity → checkout. Place a test order using Shopify's test mode if you can.

  4. Repeat on a real phone

    Open the preview link on your own phone. Check the bottom tab bar, the mobile hero slider, the product page tabs, the sticky Add to cart button and the bag drawer.

  5. Check the quiet pages

    Search for something that does not exist, open a wrong URL to see the 404 page, visit the contact page and submit the form, and check an out-of-stock product.

  6. Review the newsletter popup

    Decide whether you want it at launch. Enable popup switches it on or off. Delay before show sets how many seconds to wait, and Show again after sets how many days pass before a visitor sees it again.

  7. Publish

    Publish at a quiet time for your store. Then load the live site in a private browser window and repeat the quick journey once more.

  8. Updating later, safely

    When a new version of Comers is released, never upload it over your live theme.

    • Duplicate your live theme as a dated backup.
    • Upload the new ZIP as a separate, unpublished theme.
    • Re-apply your settings and compare both themes side by side in preview.
    • Run this checklist again, then publish the new version.

    ImportantSettings do not transfer automatically between a ZIP upload and your current theme. Keep the old theme until you have confirmed the new one is complete.
